What is Medicine?
Medicine (MBBS / MD) is one of the most rigorous and rewarding degrees available. Over five to six years, you study human anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathology, and clinical medicine — progressing from lecture halls and laboratories to hospital wards where you diagnose and treat real patients under supervision. The programme culminates in clinical rotations across surgery, internal medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics, and psychiatry.
A medical degree opens the door to a lifelong career in healthcare. After graduating, you complete a housemanship (internship) before specialising in areas such as cardiology, orthopaedics, oncology, emergency medicine, or general practice. In Malaysia, medical graduates must register with the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) and complete two years of housemanship before practising independently.
